The original Flight Into Egypt was commissioned from Nicola D’Ascenzo (1871-1954) for the New York City cathedral, St. John the Divine, when it was built in 1892. On December 18, 2001, a devastating fire threatened the cathedral and destroyed the gift shop. Royalties generated from the sales of Flight Into Egypt will help St. John’s rebuild, ensuring that the “Light will not be overcome.”  Measures 6 1/2" in diameter and includes a chain for hanging.
